Takt time is the interval between finishing one unit and starting the next.

Calculating takt time

To calculate takt time, you need two key values:

• Total available production time

• Average customer demand

Divide the total available production time by the average customer demand. The resulting figure represents the takt time.

Takt time is the gap between finishing one unit and starting the next; cycle time is the average time to complete a unit from start to end.
