Cycle time

Cycle time tells you how long it takes to finish a task from start to finish. It considers every step along the way, from the moment work begins until the task is fully completed. It can even track all the actions each worker takes to complete a product or service

Calculating Cycle Time

First, you need to know:

• The number of products produced over a given period,

• The total time required to complete these products.

Divide the total production time by the number of products to determine the cycle time for that timeframe.

Cycle Time vs. Takt Time

Cycle time measures the average duration needed to complete one unit. Takt time, in contrast, is the interval between the completion of one unit and the start of the next.
